College, local chambers to host business training event

PALM DESERT, Calif. - The College of Extended Learning at California State University, San Bernardino Palm Desert Campus has joined forces with eight
valley chambers of commerce to host a business training event this fall. During the fall 2006 quarter, 24 business-related courses offered through the
College of Extended Learning will be available at a 10 percent discount to all members of participating chambers.
The following chambers of commerce are included: African American; Cathedral City; Coachella; Desert Hot Springs; Indian Wells; Indio; La Quinta; and
Palm Springs.

PALM DESERT, Calif. - The College of Extended Learning at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) Palm Desert Campus announces a business
training partnership with eight chambers of commerce in the Coachella Valley. The partnership, which starts this fall, will give chamber members a
discount on selected workplace training workshops. For the fall 2006 quarter, there will be 24 eligible courses including several online career training
programs.
Participating chambers include: the African American Chamber of Commerce and chambers of commerce in Cathedral City, Coachella, Desert Hot Springs,

Author dies at 79

BARSTOW, Calif. - Bill Mann, a desert miner who wrote six guidebooks on the Mojave Desert and led thousands of visitors on field trips into the vast
region for 30 years, died at his home here on Saturday. He was 79. Mann's extensive knowledge of the Mojave reflected the three decades of field trips
he led for Barstow's Mojave River Valley Museum and California State University's Desert Studies Center at Zzyzx, near Baker.
