A Message From the Dean
Summer 2006
Thank you for picking up this copy of the College of Extended Learning's summer 2006 catalog. We offer learning
opportunities for people of all ages throughout the year?including summer. Our course offerings are very diverse,
so chances are you will find more than one program that meets your learning needs. Our schedules are flexible so
that you can choose a time that is most convenient for you. With so many online courses available, you can even
take courses right from the comfort of your home or from anywhere, anytime of the day.
If you have been waiting to take a trip that involves a great deal of learning about new places and new cultures,
pick a destination from our Learning Vacations for Adults program. These programs provide the best of both worlds -
a vacation with a focus on learning. You will have all the joys of traveling, which will be augmented by informative
sessions, lectures and guided tours from local experts.
Looking for summer learning activities for your youngster at home? Please check out the programs we have on pages
11-13 for the San Bernardino campus and pages 30-32 for the Palm Desert campus. We have classes in creative and graphic
arts specially designed for the youth learners. For more serious fun, young chess players of any level can enroll in our
chess series. In addition to the fun of playing chess, youngsters will develop concentration skills, abstract reasoning
and an ability to think ahead strategically. But if you want your young student to get ahead in their studies, choose
our three-day workshop that focuses on classroom skills, reading skills and skills in math and science. No matter what
activity they are enrolled in, youth learners will have "un in the Sun".
I wish you all a great summer learning experience.
Sincerely,

Dr. Jeet Joshee, Dean College of Extended Learning
