Business/Management
Judy Brannen has been involved with dispute resolution since 1996 and mediations for the United State Postal Service Redress Program; the Court of Appeals, Second Appellate District in Los Angeles; the Riverside County Community Action Partnership Dispute Resolution Center; Federal Occupation Health Services (which provides mediators for the Office of Homeland Security) and other agencies. She is a member of the American Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section and has handled many employment, business and real estate matters.
Sophia Brooks, BSN, president, Global Learning Partners, Inc., is an executive coach, consultant and trainer for multiple organizations and corporations and teaches part-time at two colleges. She has held management positions in two international Fortune 500 corporations. Sophia’s expertise and training topics include management and leadership, strategic planning, project management, customer relations, public speaking, team building, time management and communication skills.
Marjorie Callaghan, manager, Human Resources, CSUSB, specializes in workers’ compensation, retirement and employee assistance programs. With more than 20 years of experience, she also serves as a consultant to private sector organizations regarding workers’ compensation cases.
Rueyling Chuang, Ph.D., associate professor, Communication Studies, CSUSB, is a qualified mediator and court interpreter. Her teaching and research interests include dispute resolution, mediation theory and practice, intercultural communication, interpersonal communication and communication in multicultural organizations.
Lee Fenstermaker III, MA, is President of Fenstermaker & Associates Training & Consulting Service that works with small to medium size private and public sector organizations to help them with their growth and gaining a competitive advantage. His 30 years of expertise includes communication and interpersonal skills, managing change, improving employee relations as well as management and human resources topics.
Fred Jandt, Ph.D., dean, Palm Desert Campus, CSUSB, is author of Win Win Negotiating, a John Wiley & Sons publication now translated into seven languages. Fred has over 20 years experience in alternative dispute resolution.
Jim Kronenfeld, M.B.A., S.P.H.R., has more than 25 years professional experience as a human resource practitioner. During his career, he has established effective personnel functions for numerous companies and utilized his extensive knowledge of federal and state employee-related laws, including E.E.O., O.S.H.A. and unemployment insurance. James is active within District 15 of PIHRA and has served as president of the Pomona Valley Personnel Association.
Daniel Logue, president, Logue & Associates, a business and human resources consulting firm, has more than 23 years of experience working in a variety of management positions. He is a lecturer at local colleges and universities, made presentations at professional organizations and employment groups, and writes the column, “The Competitive Edge” for the Riverside Business Journal. He is a member of PIHRA, the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), and is an associate with TEC International.
Anita Schnars, M.A., manager, Training and Development, CSUSB, has 12 years of experience in the training and development field. Her areas of expertise include human resources, quality and process improvement, succession planning, career path development, systems implementation, instructional design, personal and professional success skills and performance improvement. Anita is also a certified Profiler 360-Degree Feedback consultant and holds a certificate in Human Performance Improvement from ASTD.

Nord Embroden, chair, Construction and Manufacturing Technology, Victor Valley College, has run his own design business for the past 28 years. He is an authorized Autodesk teacher trainer and has taught many training classes in AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop, Mastercam and 3D Studio Max since 1983. Nord has been instrumental in developing two state-approved CAD and CAM training programs in southern California.
Ashley Gaines, creative director, Versatek Creative, has provided clients with a complete array of design services from Web to print, logo development and media kit. Her career in design, which has spanned more than 10 years, provides her with the knowledge and understanding of an industry constantly in flux. Ashley conducts workshops on topics including Web design, digital print layout, electronic illustration and animation graphics.
Dan Whims, B.A., president, LA Servers International, an Internet solutions company that provides search engine placement services, E-commerce Web design and Web hosting services. As a Webmaster, creative director and Web entrepreneur, Dan’s expertise includes current online marketing strategies and search engine optimization techniques.

Eric Teitelbaum is a nationally recognized humor illustrator for New Yorker magazine and cartoonist and co-creator of the nationally syndicated cartoon, "Bottomliners". Eric’s art has appeared in Hallmark and American Greetings cards.

Diana Dean, M.A., literacy curriculum specialist, San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, is CLAD and reading certified. She has been a reading specialist, intervention teacher, Title I support teacher and K-8 classroom teacher for over 15 years.

Melody Fleming, M.A. in educational administration, is a certified laughter leader. She has taught grades 3–12, and has had her own educational television series. Melody recently retired from the classroom and is currently giving keynotes and workshops on “The Importance of Humor For Your Health.”
Sandra J. Gavin, M.S.E, instructor, University of Southern California Foundation; training specialist, Public Child Welfare Training Academy, Riverside, has been a school counselor and trainer of teachers and administrators in numerous schools and districts. She is an expert in the fields of stress, conflict and mental health in the educational environment.
Darlene Johnson, M.A., mentor teacher, Ocean View School District, is a frequent seminar leader in language arts and portfolio assessment for grades K–8.

Leon McNaught, B.A., coordinator, Assistive Computing Resource Center, CSUSB, has worked in the young field of assistive technology since 1994. Leon has been with the Assistive Computing Resource Center since its inception.
Jean Leota Mendez, M.A., classroom teacher, Upland Unified School District, has extensive training in effective teaching strategies. She is TESA certified and participated in intensive mathematics training through CeeMast.
Jennifer Morris, M.A., classroom and mentor teacher, Upland Unified School District, has presented staff development workshops in writing utilizing effective teaching strategies. She is TESA and CeeMast certified and serves as a school site expert on differentiated instruction.
Greg Thomson is a certified CPR instructor.
Leslie Thornburgh, B.A., has 18 years experience as an educational designer and trainer for schools and state and federal agencies. Her training programs have garnered over 60 awards and been used in more than 800 schools and government organizations. She trains hundreds of educators and occupational therapists each year on visual processing and has been a featured presenter at CA state literacy and learning disability conferences.

Betty Nethery, president, Uniquely You, a national image consulting firm, has 18 years in the beauty industry as a former fashion and
photographic model and makeup artist.
Michael Watling is a retired professor of horticulture at the College of the Desert. He is a credentialed ornamental horticulturist with
more than 25 years experience with plants, landscaping and monumental sculptors and established the College of the Desert's master landscape plan and
founded the Desert College Arboretum. Michael currently has more than 50 sculptures in public venues in the U.S. and abroad and runs a horticulture
consulting firm with his wife.

Hattie Byland, M.S.W., grant development specialist, Riverside Unified School District, is a graduate of the CSUSB College of Extended Learning’s Certificate in Grant Development and Management program. She has several years of grant management experience in publicly funded, private, nonprofit and Fortune 500 settings. Her expertise includes designing and implementing new programs, coordinating grant development and management activities, grant proposal preparation, post-award management, training and monitoring project accountability.
Rueyling Chuang, Ph.D., associate professor, Communication Studies, CSUSB, is a qualified mediator and court interpreter. Sarah Eberhardt, B.A., director of development, College of Arts and Letters, CSUSB, has more than 8 years experience in non-profit management administration, including grant development and management, fund and donor development, strategic planning, staff and board development, marketing and public relations. Her educational background includes public administration, non-profit management, and fund-raising.
Michael L. Gillespie, B.S., office manager, Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, CSUSB; secretary, Institutional Review Board, Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, CSUSB, is a graduate of CEL’s Certificate in Grant Development and Management program. He has 6 years of experience working with grant submissions particularly in manners relating to budgetary details and accuracy. Michael is involved with the daily coordination of grant activities for the CSUSB Office of Research and Sponsored Programs and specializes in electronic grant submissions with several federal funding agencies.
Steve Gross, B.A., principal, S. Gross & Associates, specializes in grant and fund development for nonprofit organizations throughout southern California. Through his grant and strategic planning expertise, he has been instrumental in bringing healthcare to low-income populations, after school programs to at-risk youth, and domestic violence prevention programs to the Inland Empire. Steve has taught grant writing at several southern California colleges, and is a workshop facilitator for the Southern California Association of Hospital Development and the American Association of Grant Professionals, where he is also vice president of the southern California chapter. He also serves as a subject matter expert in the credentialing process for the grant profession.

Dana Lofton, B.A., M.Ed., program manager, Dispute Resolution Center, Community Action Partnership, County of Riverside, has worked at the Dispute Resolution Center since 2000 and has been a County of Riverside employee for the past 20 years. The Dispute Resolution Center provides volunteer mediators for a variety of community mediation projects including the Small Claims Court Mediation Project.

Leonard Pimentel, M.A., public relations and special projects administrator, Economic Development Agency, County of Riverside, has more than 14 years of grant management experience in non-profit and public sectors representing organizations both as the grantor and grantee in the grant submission process, negotiation and grant awardees review and selection panels. His expertise includes budget analysis and financial management, program development and management, fiscal auditing and internal monitoring, and continuous quality improvement planning.
Roy Ramon, M.A., director, McNair Scholars Program (TRIO), CSUSB, has worked with state and federally funded student support grant programs for eight years in Chicago, Illinois and at CSUSB.
Elaine Rosen, J.D., president of the board, Resource Center for Nonprofit Management, has been involved in dispute resolution since the early 1980s as a volunteer mediator for the Los Angeles Small Claims Court and the Los Angeles City Attorney. Since 1982, she has used mediation in her law practice which focused on family and juvenile law, and directed the dispute resolution certificate program at UC Riverside from 1999–2004.

Robert Dillworth is a Los Angeles-based entertainment industry designer specializing in Web development, special effects graphics and new media design. His creative credits include projects for Sony, Warner Music, Verizon and Qualcomm. He lectures at several California State University campuses on topics covering Web design and commercial graphics.

Don Sturges, B.S. (mathematics), M.A. (education), has 35 years of experience as a teacher of junior high, high school and college math and has been licensed in four states. He previously headed the high school math/science department in Park City, Utah. Don has also owned and operated a SAT Prep tutoring business prior to moving to Coachella Valley.

John Foster, Ph.D., chair and professor, geological sciences, CSU Fullerton.
David Lee is an independent researcher specializing in the context and function of rock art in the Mojave Desert and the great Basin. He has recorded art in California, Nevada, and Arizona and has co-authored several papers on rock art of eastern California and the Mojave Desert. David has been the steward of the Sweeney Granite Mountain Desert Research Center for the last 10 years.
Kurt Leuschner, instructor, Natural Resources, College of the Desert, has been studying birds at Zzyzx for many years. His specialities include ornithology, entomology and ecology of the desert.
Ruth Nolan, M.A., assistant professor, English, College of the Desert, teaches poetry, Native American literature, desert literature, creative writing, business writing, and technical writing classes and is an advisor to the annual COD literary and visual arts magazine, Solstice. She is on the editorial board for the forthcoming anthology of Inland Empire and desert literature, Inlandia, and is a widely published poet who works have appeared in Pacific Review, Mosaic and Writing on Dry Ground. Ruth is also a hiking and nature enthusiast.

Teri Kelly, B.S., business services advisor, Fiscal Management and Advisory Services, San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools. She works closely with the school district business offices in San Bernardino County assisting with fiscal and budgetary reporting requirements, and is part of the county superintendent’s team that reviews and approves county school district budgets, interim reports, audit reports and financial reports. Teri is an executive board member of the California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO).

Robert Rose, Ph.D., supervising teacher, Education, CSUSB, has written numerous articles, teacher workbooks, and children’s plays. His self-help book, Creating Your Giant Self and his couples workbook, Getting to Know You, is the basis for his CSUSB radio show “Getting to Know You”. Robert has also been an adjunct professor at National University where he taught over 200 student teachers and interns the realities of teaching based on his almost fifty years as a teacher and master teacher.
