Steps and Procedures for Open University Enrollments

  • Expand Domestic Student

    Domestic students are those who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States

    1. Choose your course(s) from the CSUSB Schedule of Classes:
    2. Obtain the Open University registration form:
      • You can download the Open University registration form here.
      • Or, you can pick up an application in person at the College of Extended Learning's (CEL) office in Sierra Hall, Room 101 on the first day of classes. Our staff will provide you with the registration form which includes CEL's policies.
    3. Submit any scholarship letter by the Sponsor to the College of Extended Learning. The letter must be addressed to CSUSB and specify the term.
    4. Professor and Department chair signatures are only required if: 1) the class is full, 2) the student does not meet the prerequisite requirements or 3) the student is attempting to add during the third week of the quarter. After the 3rd week a petition processed is required. All graduate level courses require the Graduate Dean’s signature.
    5. Return the approved form to CEL with the registration fees beginning May 26th through June 10th.
      • Full payment is due at the time of registration.
    6. If the student requires Blackboard Access, he/she must contact Student and Enrollment Services as soon as he/she has obtained the instructor’s signature.
  • Expand English Language Program Student

    ELP Students are those who hold an F-1 Visa and are enrolled in the ELP program at CSUSB
    ELP students must meet with the Academic Coordinator for advising prior to registration.

    1. Choose your course(s) from the CSUSB Schedule of Classes:
      • Available in print for purchase at the Coyote Bookstore.
      • Or online at the Academic Scheduling Web site.
    2. Obtain the Open University registration form:
      • You can download the Open University registration form here.
      • Or, you can pick up an application in person at the College of Extended Learning's (CEL) office in Sierra Hall, Room 101 on the first day of classes. Our staff will provide you with the registration form which includes CEL's policies.
    3.     4. Bring the signed Open University forms back to ELP staff beginning May 26th through June 10th to have them verified. Then take forms to Student and Enrollment Services to be enrolled.
    5. If the student requires Blackboard Access, he/she must contact Student and Enrollment Services as soon as he/she has obtained the instructor’s signature.
  • Expand Visiting International Student

    Visiting International Students are those who currently hold an I-20 from another institution and are allowed to be concurrently enrolled at CSUSB

    1. Choose your course(s) from the CSUSB Schedule of Classes:
      • Available in print for purchase at the Coyote Bookstore.
      • Or online at the Academic Scheduling Web site.
    2. Obtain the Open University registration form:

    5. Submit an I-20 or a letter from the home institution and an official TOEFL score or other equivalent of English Proficiency proof to the College of Extended Learning. A minimum score of 500 for undergraduate and a score of 550 for graduate students.
