Open University
Open University makes it possible for you to take courses from the University's offerings on a
space-available basis without going through the formal admission process. Open University applications are accepted at both the San Bernardio and Palm Desert campuses.
Open university is a program designed for those who:
- missed the deadline for admission to CSUSB
- want to examine a particular field before seeking admission to the University and enrolling in a degree program
- want to update professional skills
- want to take selected CSUSB courses that will transfer to another university
- have "dropped out" of CSUSB or those who want to improve their GPA in order to reenter an academic program
The Open University program can help you update professional skills, prepare for a career change, enrich
your personal development or work toward a degree. Many of the regular courses are held in the late
afternoon and evenings, which provides opportunities for working adults.
Instructions and policies for enrolling through Open University are available at the College of Extended Learning.
Visit our office on campus (SH 134) on the first day of classes to check on space availability for your course, and
to receive these important policies.
For a complete list of courses and information on prerequisites, consult the CSUSB Schedule of Classes, which
is available at the campus bookstore and online at
